Zone Chairman Training

 

Job Description:

  1. Make contact with each Lions Club president and secretary within 30 Days after you take office.
    • Introduce yourself
    • Help provide answers to any questions they have.
    • Offer your ongoing support and assistance.
  2. Work with each club in your zone on an on going basis.
    • You should try to attend at least one meeting of each club in your zone during your year as Zone Chair.
    • Make regular contacts with the presidents and secretaries of the Lions clubs in you zone.
      • Answer any questions
      • Encourage their work.
      • Help them and their club to be successful.
  3. Plan your September, November and March Zone Meetings by August 1 of your year:
    • Arrange the location of each meeting.
    • Define the date for each meeting.  Assure that the meeting does not fall on the regular meeting date of any club in the zone.  If possible, coordinate your meeting schedule with the other Zone Chairs in your District to assure that no two zones meet on the same day.
    • Define the theme and high level agenda for each meeting.  Review the theme and agenda with your District Governor and Region Chair.
  4. Conduct three Zone Meetings (September, November and March)
  5. Send in your Zone Meeting reports within 5 days after each meeting.
  6. Work closely with your District Governor and Region Chair/keep them informed on your work and any situations that might need their attention.
  7. Other duties as may be assigned by the District Governor.
  8. Attend District level leadership training when available.
  9. Attend District meetings and conventions

Qualifications:

  1. Must have served as President of his/her Lions Club and experience in other club offices is desirable.
  2. Good understanding of Lions Clubs International and of his/her District
  3. Credibility with the Lions in his/her area.
  4. Desire and ability to work with other Lions and Lions clubs in his/her zone.
  5. Effective presentation skills and experienced in conducting meetings
  6. Time available to work with and assist Lions Clubs in his/her Zone.
  7. Ability to take part in Leadership Development programs in his/her District
  8. Ability to attend zone meetings, District Meetings and Mid-Winter Conventions
