District Region Chair
Job Description:
- Make contact with the Zone Chairs in your region prior to the start of your year as Region Chair.
- Share your Job Description with them.
- Discuss your plans and goals with them.
- Learn about their plans and goals
- Build a coordinated set of plans and approach with the Zone Chairs in your region.
- Work in close contact with the Zone Chairs in your region throughout the year.
- Advise, help and mentor them as needed.
- Support your Zone Chairs on club level needs:
- Answer any Questions
- Help them solve problem
- Attend club meetings in their zone when needed.
- Support them on their work to make each club in the zone successful.
- Make contact with each Lions Club and secretary within 30 days after you take office:
- Introduce yourself
- Help provide answers to any questions they have
- Make sure they understand how to fill out the club M&A Report and emphasize the importance of sending the report in ON TIME.
- If you do not receive your copy of the previous months M&A by the 5th of each month you should immediately contact the club secretary (president if necessary) and make arrangements to get the M&A completed and in the mail immediately.
- Manage the District Governors Points Contest for the clubs in your region (optional).
- Assist the District Leadership Development chair with training in your region (optional).
- Serve on the District Membership and New Clubs Committee (optional).
- Other duties as may be assigned by the District Governor
- Work closely with your District Governor and Zone Chairs/keep them informed on your work and any situations that might need their or your attention.
- Serve as Zone Chair in case of emergency, sickness, etc.
- Attend District level leadership training when available.
- Attend District meetings and conventions.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Zone Chair is very desirable
- Must have served as President of his/her Lions Club and experience in other club offices is desirable.
- Good understanding of Lions Clubs International and of his/her District
- Credibility with the Lions in his/her area.
- Desire and ability to work with other Lions and Lions clubs in his/her region.
- Effective presentation skills
- Time available to work with and assist Lions Clubs in his/her region.
- Ability to take part in Leadership Development programs in his/her District
- Ability to attend zone meetings, District meetings and Mid-Winter Conventions.
